Guided Walk: Lakeview Golden  Mile

Event Description: Lakeview Award Winning Golden Mile is rich in natural heritage & biodiversity. Features include ringforts, landlords house and out buildings, stone windmill, eel trap, crannog, roofed well and a seasonal turlough.

Venue: Meeting at Moylough Resource & Heritage Centre, Parochial House Moylough, Galway.

Field Trip To James F Jamesons Grave

Event Description : James F Jameson descendant of the famous Dublin distilling and banking family who bought Windfield Estate in the early 1820’s and owned it until 1921. James F Jameson was buried in the Curraghaun burial ground in Windfield in 1896.

Friday 24 Aug 18.30—20.30

Field Trip to Laught  Penal Church and site of Laught Sports.

Event Description : Visit to ruin of Penal church  at Laught. Four stone walls. Alter and stone holy water font still remain.  Laught Sports  established in 1902 ran until 1962 hosted All Ireland Finals which attracted cyclists and athletes from the 32 counties of Ireland.

Guided Walk: Moylough Slí na Sláinte & Cloonoran Golden Mile Scenic Rural Walk

Event Description: The Moylough Slí na Sláinte and Cloonoran Golden Mile traverses a scenic rural area. Which includes several historical sites, recreational play area and the award winning Galway County Heritage wildlife feature of “ Cloonoran Turlough “.
