On Saturday last the 14th January 2012, Moylough Walking Club in co-operation with Co. Galway Local Sport Partnership and the Irish Sports Council, organized a walk to coincide with Operation Transformation.
Operation Transformation is a nationwide project that encourages people of all ages to become more physically active. TV viewers will be familiar with the programme of the same name hosted by Catherine Thomas on RTE.
The 7k walk in Moylough took place along the ‘golden mile’ route outside the town and was a great success with over 160 people of all ages participating. The beautiful weather together with the scenic route added to the wonderful atmosphere and participants enjoyed a well earned cuppa in the Forge hostelry when the walk was over.
This walk was one of many that were organized all over the country and, as was evidenced by the numbers in Moylough and elsewhere, the project is going from strength to strength each year.
Moylough Walking club was formed in 2011 and caters for men and women in all local communities who have an interest in walking. The club meets each Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings at 10am in Moylough and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 8pm in Mountbellew. For further information contact Linda Cummins @ 087 2801935.
