Burial Grounds – Disposal of waste materials

There is an increasing difficulty at a number of burial grounds throughout the county regarding the proper disposal of waste soil, stones, timbers, wreaths, flowers etc, generated from new plots and maintenance of existing plots. There is a tendency to dump such materials at a common location in the burial ground and this can lead to an increased use of this location as a permanent dumping point. We are asking that you would co-operate in the proper maintenance of your burial ground by taking away materials, wreaths, flowers etc., and reuse the disturbed soil on the plot.

Signed: Environment Section, Galway Co. Council.
